WMSU Civil Engineering Batch 2001

A Legacy of Resilience, Brotherhood, and Service to Society

Forged in the halls of the Western Mindanao State University College of Engineering, Batch 2001 continues to reconnect, rebuild, and celebrate a shared journey — in engineering and beyond.

Origins and Academic Journey

Batch 2001 entered WMSU during a transformative era for engineering education — a time when the university was strengthening its reputation as a cradle of disciplined, technically grounded civil engineers. From the very first day, students were introduced to a world shaped by numbers, diagrams, and the responsibility of building structures that would one day serve communities.

The curriculum demanded mastery across a wide spectrum of disciplines: structural analysis that tested logic and patience, hydraulics that revealed the power and unpredictability of water, geotechnical engineering that required understanding the very ground beneath our feet, transportation systems that connected people and places, and project management that taught leadership long before anyone held a title.

Long nights of drafting, manual computations, and field surveys became rites of passage. Many remember the weight of T‑squares and tracing paper, the smell of ammonia from blueprint machines, and the quiet intensity of solving problems that stretched across pages. These were the moments that shaped discipline and perseverance.

Study groups formed naturally — sometimes in classrooms, sometimes under trees, sometimes in boarding houses where tables doubled as drafting stations. Friendships grew through shared academic battles: rushing to finish plates, reviewing for surprise quizzes, or celebrating small victories after surviving a difficult exam.

The hallways echoed with the clicking of calculators, the rustle of engineering pads, and bursts of laughter that broke the tension of demanding coursework. It was a soundtrack unique to that era — a blend of ambition, exhaustion, and camaraderie.

Through these experiences, Batch 2001 learned not only the science of engineering but the deeper lessons of endurance, teamwork, and humility. These foundations would later guide them in every path they chose, whether inside the profession or far beyond it.

DIVERSE CAREER PATHS
