Governance & Fairness

Awards Committee

To keep the awards credible, unbiased, and free of batch politics, the evaluating body is composed primarily of WMSU College of Engineering faculty who taught CE Batch 2001, joined by a pre-2001 alumni representative. The batch's own officers serve only in non-voting, supporting roles.

⚖️

Impartial by Design

Faculty evaluators are not nominees and have no stake in batch dynamics — scoring is judged on merit, not friendship or influence.

🎓

They Know the Batch

Every faculty member taught CE Batch 2001, so they can weigh each nominee's growth and contribution with real context.

🕵️

Blind Scoring

Nominee identities are anonymized during scoring; the Documentation Officer consolidates scores to protect neutrality.

Governing Documents

Charter & Mandate

The committee operates under three approved instruments:

  • Committee Charter — purpose, authority, and independence of the awards body.
  • Terms of Reference (TOR) — membership, tenure, quorum, and conflict-of-interest rules.
  • Board Resolution — the association's formal act creating and empowering the committee.

Committee decisions are final and are documented for transparency in the association's records.

How Winners Are Decided

Scoring & Deliberation

A structured, auditable path from nomination to award — no single voice decides.

1 · ScreenSecretariat checks eligibility (member in good standing, 5+ years in the profession, complete nomination) and anonymizes entries.
2 · ScoreEach voting member independently scores nominees on the five-point framework — Impact, Leadership, Service, Innovation, Legacy (1–5 each, max 25).
3 · ConsolidateThe Documentation Officer averages the scores into each nominee's Total_Score in the Awards_Tracking_2026 sheet.
4 · DeliberateThe committee reviews the ranked results, resolves ties by discussion, and reaches consensus (majority vote if needed; the Chairman breaks a deadlock).
5 · ApproveWinners are finalized, minuted, and endorsed to the association for the Awards Night.
6 · ConferCertificates (CE01-C-####) are generated and awarded at the Silver Jubilee Gala.
